The All New Toyota Fortuner 2020 handles well and its standard AWD gives off-road ability as well, though only the turbo model offers spirited performance.

Toyota first introduced the new-generation Fortuner in 2015. The SUV is already 3 years old and is set to receive a major upgrade in 2020. This will act as a buffer before Toyota brings the next-generation model. Besides this, Toyota is also working on the facelift of Innova Crysta. The 2020 Toyota Fortuner facelift is expected to arrive in the second half of 2020. Not just ASEAN markets, the Fortuner will also enter into the North American markets.
The 2020 Toyota Fortuner is likely to be launched for the first time in Canada as well. Instead of introducing the existing model, Toyota would be aiming at giving a fresh life to the Fortuner SUV. The updated model will first go on sale in the Asian markets, followed by other countries including Australia and Russia. Mechanically, the upcoming Fortuner won’t see any major upgrades. The company is yet to make an official announcement on the launch of the new Fortuner SUV. However, media reports claim that the SUV could be launched in 2020 in select Asian markets. In India, the upcoming Fortuner facelift will receive BSVI compliant engines. It is expected to be launched in the second half of 2020, possibly around Diwali.

The outgoing Fortuner is available in the price bracket of Rs 27.23 lakh – Rs 32.93 lakh. The India-spec model will receive a BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines, which will make it slightly expensive than the outgoing model. We expect the new Fortuner to cost between Rs 29 lakh and Rs 35 lakh.

The updated Fortuner will continue to feature the existing set of engines, which includes a 2.8-litre GD diesel & a 2.7-litre petrol. However, both the engines will meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms. The 4-cylinder, in-line turbocharged diesel engine is capable of producing 174.5bhp of power at 3,400rpm and 450Nm of torque between 1,600 to 2,400rpm. Transmission options include a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic unit.
On the flip-side, the gasoline version of the SUV gets a new 2.7-litre, 4-cylinder unit that is good for 163.7bhp of power and 245Nm of torque. This engine is paired to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shift & shiftlock. Also See – Upcoming Toyota Fortuner Rivals In India
