Bmw I9 Price Review

The clean, straightforward design of the Bmw I9 Price is let down only by the turbo model’s excessive add-ons.

Bmw I9 Price Redesign and Price

Rumors about a BMW i9 have been floating around ever since the i8 has been released on the market. This car was expected to be the sportier version of the i8, but this seems now to be false. Instead, not that long ago BMW announced that their “I” and “M” divisions are going to work together to make a new car. This might be the very i9 many people are talking about the internet. While so far not much is available about it; we do expect it to use the same carbon fiber monocoque as the i8. This is not only highly rigid but also very light and quite easy to make as BMW already perfected the process of making it.

While the chassis is going to be shared between the two, though, the car is likely going to feature an all-new exterior, engine and interior. It will be an all-new car, and it should be the first true supercar BMW releases in more than three decades. This will finally allow them to compete with the likes of Audi R8 and Porsche 911, and it should give them a nice boost in sales.

The price is still unknown at this point, but many say the car will start around $150,000 for the most basic model. A top end version with the more powerful engine would cost $250,000 or more. This is still well under many other supercars out there.

Bmw I9 DESIGN

Let’s first talk a little about the design of the rumored BMW i9. To become a great selling car, it will have to be dramatic. Why? All supercars have to impress people at a first look. The BMW i8 does just that, but it is more of a futuristic car than a dramatic one. The i9, on the other hand, is expected to feature a designed inspired by that of the original M1. The front of the car is likely going to feature an aggressive design with a low nose. At the back, the car will be noticeably wider than the i8.

Also, it should feature active aerodynamics in order to allow it to be as fast as the competition. While up to this point not much has been said about the car, it seems that two versions are going to be released. The dramatic design is not going to stop on the outside. Its cabin will be able to house two people in perfect comfort which is to be expected from a supercar made by BMW.

BMW I9 ENGINE

The first version of the rumored BMW i9 would use a straight six twin-turbocharged petrol engine that would offer close to 500 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. This should be enough to get the car to 60 MPH in around 4 seconds or less and up to a top speed of 200 MPH. The more interesting model is going to be the hybrid. This is expected to be around $100,000 more expensive than the regular version of the car. While it will likely use the same 3.0-liter engine, it should also make use of two electric motors and a set of batteries.

This particular version is expected to exceed 600 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque which would be more than any of its direct rivals. A seven-speed dual clutch automatic is supposed to be offered as standard on both engines. The hybrid should be all wheel drive. This would allow the car to hit 60 MPH in less than 3 seconds and hit more than 210 MPH. This would make it the fastest BMW ever made, and it should allow them to dethrone Audi finally.

The best value in Bmw I9 Price is a base model with manual gearbox, but it’s still decently priced after adding fancy audio, leather, and a moonroof.

2019 Suzuki V-Strom Price and Review

The Touring leads the way with a narrow bird’s-beak fairing that couples with the ample, 5.3-gallon fuel tank hump to create the well-established adventure-bike profile. In order to keep the entry narrow and drag to a minimum, the halogen headlights are stacked in a common recess that dominates the visage. Down between the blackout fork sliders is a proper fender, so you don’t have to rely on the dubious coverage of the high-mount beak to control your forward fling.

Up top, an adjustable windshield punches a minimal hole in the wind for the rider’s torso with a vented design that minimizes turbulence and the much-dreaded head-buffet effect. The factory missed an opportunity to clean up the front end by sticking the front turn signals in with the mirrors or the handguards; almost anything would be better than the standoff-style LED clusters, really. A bash plate completes the forward protection from its spot at the turn of the cradle below the radiator that nearly disappears behind the partial upper cowl.

Though it starts out rather narrow, the fairing flares out toward the back to form a decent pocket, but then it narrows down once more to meet the frame and seat at a skinny waist that leaves you with a straight shot from hip to ground. That last will come in handy for riders with shorter inseams, especially since the seat rides at 32.9 inches off the ground. The p-pad comes complete with a set of large J.C. handles and fold-up footpegs.

I gotta’ give Suzuki credit; nothing says tour-capable to an American buyer quite like stock saddlebags, and these hard-side panniers fit the bill quite nicely, plus they’re of the quick-connect variety, which makes them convenient and easy to deal with. A stock luggage rack finishes off the storage possibilities above an LED taillight and incandescent turn signals that ride on a short mudguard extension along with the plate.

CHASSIS

Lightweight aluminum is the material of choice for the twin-spar frame and yoke-style swingarm. The steering head is set at 25.4-degrees with 4.21 inches of trail, and it will traverse through 40-degrees to each side for easy parking-lot maneuvers. Even the blackout rims are aluminum, though they’re laced to the hub with polished stainless-steel spokes for a bit of bling.

Rwu front forks run with a 43 mm inner fork-tube diameter and blackout sliders, plus it rocks an adjustable spring-preload feature for a little bit of tuneability. Out back, the link-type suspension relies on a coil-over monoshock to take care of business with a hand-operated spring-preload feature alongside adjustable rebound damping to finish off the ride-quality goodies. Tubeless hoops line the composite rims with a 110/80-19 up front opposite a 150/70-17 to round out the rolling chassis.

ABS protection is part of the stock package. It oversees the operation of the dual, two-piston Tokico anchors biting the 310 mm front discs and the single-pot Nissin caliper that binds a 260 mm disc out back. Touring weight measures in at 514 pounds, wet, with the hard panniers installed, so that’s some solid brake hardware that should be ample for nearly any kind of riding and load. The Touring comes ready to receive the heated grips and seats from the accessories catalog.

DRIVETRAIN

Dual over-head cams time the four-valve heads that come with twin spark plugs in each combustion chamber for positive flame-front propagation. Induction control falls to the dual 39 mm throttle bodies and ten-hole injector nozzles with emissions control courtesy of the exhaust-gas probes and catalytic converter in the 2-into-1 exhaust system.

The engine-control electronics come off the top shelf, and it starts with Suzuki’s proprietary Dual Throttle Valve induction control that has servo-controlled butterfly valves that help smooth out the difference between demand and capability. An Idle-Speed Control feature stabilizes the engine, even when cold, with a Low RPM Assist feature that provides stumble-free transitions near the bottom end of the range. Traction control oversees all with two separate operating modes and an “Off” setting if you’d prefer.

What does all that get ya’? Well, it looks like the mill claims a total of 69 ponies at 8,000 rpm with 50.9 pound-feet of torque that maxes out at 6,400 rpm. A standard clutch couples the engine’s power to a six-speed transmission that rocks a sporty ratio for acceleration through the first five gears, but makes the sixth gear very tall indeed for comfortable interstate cruising and a top speed of 115 mph.

PRICING

The new 2019 V-Strom 650XT Touring rolls for $9,999. That’s $1,200 more than the base model, but it has so much more utility right off the showroom floor than the “plain” V-Strom 650, mainly due to the stock bags.

Suzuki Swift 2020 Price and Review

It’s the all-new Suzuki Swift MkIV and this is very good news if you’re a regular follower of Top Gear, because the Swift Sport has always been one of our favourite everyday performance champions. No Sport to tell you about yet, sadly (although after a bit of gentle torture a Suzuki PR person did admit “the Sport is definitely on the way”), but there’s enough in the make-up of the regular hatchback to make us a bit excited about the forthcoming warm version of the Japanese supermini. More on that in a moment. (READ: Suzuki Jimny 2019 Acceleration Price)

First, however, we probably need to clarify Suzuki’s range for you, as you’re no doubt wearing a puzzled expression, while possibly uttering the words ‘but I thought Suzuki already had a supermini, in the form of the Baleno?’ You’re right. But Suzuki would not be alone in offering a multitude of small cars of varying shapes that all seem to be of the same denomination. Look at Vauxhall, for instance: it has the Adam, the Corsa and the Viva. Ford similarly has the Ka+ and the Fiesta, as well as the EcoSport. Seems you just can’t get away with one supermini-sized offering any more, so Suzuki is hedging its bets and banging out three of the blighters, in the form of the Baleno, Ignis micro-SUV and this Swift, its longest-serving hatchback.

The Swift therefore fulfils a function whereby it provides a more chic and compact supermini as a counterpoint to the spacious-but-bargain Baleno, which is perhaps a more (how can we put this?) rational car. So you get some classic Swift design features, like the wraparound windscreen and the sloping roof, plus distinctive C-pillar treatment that now has a ‘floating roof’ effect. Even the light clusters front and rear aren’t that much different to the old car’s units, although the ‘smiling mouth’ lower front grille is not going to meet with universal rapture.

Nevertheless, the Swift is smaller (10mm shorter, 15mm lower, although 40mm wider) and considerably lighter than its predecessor, and it sits on the company’s ‘Heartect’ platform, used for the Baleno and Ignis. But a 20mm-stretched wheelbase means there’s plenty of space within and a boot that’s bigger by 54 litres than the old car’s cargo bay, standing at 265 litres with all seats in situ. That’s some clever packaging work.

Two engines, the 1.2-litre Dualjet normally aspirated four-cylinder petrol and the much more charismatic 1.0-litre Boosterjet three-cylinder motor do the donkey work and both of them can be mated to the Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS) system; this doesn’t add anything in terms of outright torque or performance, but it does marginally cut the emissions and gives the combined economy a little tickle upwards. The 1.2 SHVS is also an Allgrip 4×4 model, while the 1.0 SHVS is the only Swift that comes with the option of an automatic transmission. So, with all this in mind, what’s it like behind the wheel?

Suzuki Swift hatchback running costs

The Swift looks incredibly good value when viewed next to its main rivals at list price. It’s cheaper to buy than a Ford Fiesta, VW Polo, Skoda Fabia and comes with more equipment across its trim levels, too. It’s a little early to confirm whether finance deals will be better than rival ones, but with resale values looking fairly strong at this stage and with these low prices there’s no reason to think they won’t be competitive.

With such small engines, no version of the Swift is thirsty, the worst performer is the Boosterjet auto that gets an official combined 56.5mpg on the official economy cycle and emits 114g/km of carbon. If you can change your own gears, the Boosterjet manages 61.4mpg and 104g/km or 65.7mpg and 97g/km with the SHVS system – and is the best bet for company car drivers. The 1.2 Dualjet matches the fuel economy but is 1g/km worse at 98g/km. Even the 4WD 1.2 is good for 101g/km and 62.8mpg.

ALSO READ: Lancer 2020 Exterior and Interior

While the Swift’s servicing costs are about average at this level, it’s worth pointing out that its insurance costs are unusually high. It’s due to expensive repair costs, and hence a high group rating. Suzuki is aware and trying to sort out it, so it could lower over time.
